cRunner Privacy Policy
Effective 8 September 2026
cRunner is a private, local-first fitness app. It has no account system, advertising SDK, or analytics SDK, and it does not send workout data to the developer.
Data cRunner handles
While workout setup is open, cRunner briefly receives location fixes to show GPS readiness and estimated accuracy. Preview fixes are not added to a route or counted as distance. When you start a workout, cRunner can record activity type, date, time, duration, precise location, route, distance, speed, pace, elevation, pauses, splits, notes, perceived effort, and recovery data. Apple Watch can also record heart rate during an active workout.
Storage and device transfer
Workout history is stored locally on your iPhone. Pending Watch workouts stay on your Watch until they transfer to the paired iPhone. Apple’s private iCloud key-value service can synchronize only language, units, countdown, and spoken-cue preferences between devices using the same Apple Account. Auto-pause, goals, automatic Health saving, workouts, routes, heart rate, and other health or fitness measurements are never placed in cRunner’s iCloud storage. cRunner has no developer-operated cloud database. Protected on-device backups remain excluded from cloud backup.
Apple Health
With permission, cRunner writes completed workouts, distance, route, pauses, and available heart-rate samples to Apple Health. The iPhone app can read compatible workouts previously saved by cRunner so they can appear on another iPhone using the same Apple Account; unrelated Health workouts are not imported. Apple controls synchronization timing, and imported records can contain fewer cRunner-specific details than the original. Health data is never used for advertising, marketing, profiling, or data mining.
Location
Location is accessed while workout setup is open to show GPS readiness and during a workout you start for route, distance, pace, speed, and elevation. Setup updates stop when setup closes or cRunner leaves the foreground. You can change Location and Health permissions in Apple system settings.
User-initiated exports
You can deliberately export a GPX route or portable archive. Portable archives contain dates, workout details, and precise routes, but omit heart-rate samples. You choose the destination. Other than optional Apple Health saving described above, cRunner never uploads or exports workout data automatically.
Social sharing
Social sharing is off by default. If enabled, cRunner creates a summary image on your iPhone. Route trace, location map, and average heart rate are three independent choices that are also off by default. A trace without a map can still reveal a familiar route shape; a location map reveals the workout area. Heart rate is included only when available. Notes, reflections, and raw samples are never included. You choose and confirm every destination in Apple’s share sheet; cRunner connects no social accounts and never posts automatically.
Retention and deletion
Your data stays on your devices until you delete workouts, choose Delete all activities, or remove the app. Deleting cRunner data does not delete workouts already written to Apple Health; manage those separately in the Health app. A compatible workout that remains in Apple Health may be imported again when you synchronize.
Security, children, and medical use
cRunner uses Apple platform protections such as app sandboxing, protected files, and permission controls. It is a general fitness tool, not a medical device or emergency service, and is not designed specifically for children.
